Arrival: Misahualli

You will be greeted by our staff at Port Misahualli and taken to your accomodations. Dinner.

Day 1:

Rainforest Hike: one focus of the tour is the Amazon Plants Conservation Center (CCPA), which, according to their website, “is a center for experimental silviculture, botanical garden and agroforestry extension programs.”

Besides tours of the reserve, guests will have the opportunity to experience traditional fishing practises.

Day 2:

Ecuador Jungle chocolate tour, featuring a cultural program in a Kichwa community, where you will learn about traditional dancing, jewelry making, and receive an introduction to shamnism.

Day 3:

Tubing on the Napo River: kick back and relax as you float down the river.
Night Hike: take in the wonders of the night as you wander cleared pathways along the river with an experienced guide.

Day 4:

Visit AmaZOOnico: a unique wildlife rescue center located in a rainforest preserve. What makes this “zoo” different is that it is a working shelter and rehabilitation center. You will be able to visit and see the many species of Ecuadorian wildlife. Some animals live free in AmaZOOnico, and some are being actively rehabilitated for a return to the wild.

Local sights: including visit to the Kichwa Museum built by volunteers in 2005 in the Kichwa community of Chichico Rumi. Historical fishing and hunting methods are demonstrated at the museum. In addition there are rescued animals in residence.

You will also see pottery in the village of Ahuano.

Day 5:

The waterfall tour: begins with the canoe going up the Napo River, stops at the trail which leads to the Cascada de Latas Waterfall. A series of smaller waterfalls lead you up the trail until you reach the large one.

Another stop along the river brings you to the butterfly farm where you will see many beautiful species. You will end the day with the option of tubing down the river.
